Shelley Jackson is a well-known author of hypertext and other new-wave digital fiction for adults, but Recess's Laurie Taylor spoke with her recently about her work as a children's book author -- of two intriguing picture books that have already appeared -- The Old Woman and the Wave and Sophia the Alchemist's Dog -- and of a new picture book that is just being completed, MiMi, the Dada Cat. Ms. Jackson has an unique take on things, especially happy endings, as she explains about the way she concludes Sophia, the Alchemist's Dog:
