Brief Sound Clip: The children singing, part of a group called Les Pétits Loups du Jazz from France, are clearly having some giddy fun with the idea of a nose to horn meeting with one of these huge creatures. This album is full of such unexpected and fantastical encounters of the human and animal worlds -- from Trinadad to Chicago and round the globe to Australia and South Africa. Samba Salad from Suriname serves up a peppy kaseko called "Bigi Kaiman" about being careful to watch out for those kaiman crocodiles while you're swimming. Brief Sound Clip: Happily, not all of these meetings are with potentially dangerous animals. There's a wonderful Italian version of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm," and there are plenty of frogs doing the samba in Zé Renato's "Cantigo do Sapo" from Brazil. Brief Sound Clip: And then there are The Be Good Tanyas from Canada who have something important to remind us about, the birds. Brief Sound Clip: Copyright 2007© John Cech
